We acknowledge every grievance within 24 hours of receipt and resolve it within 15 days. This covers complaints about the service, billing, or your personal data, including a request to see, correct or erase it. See Privacy Policy for the rights we honour.
Every grievance gets a ticket number. Send it through the contact form and choose “Formal grievance”: the ticket number appears on screen the moment you send it. A grievance sent by email or post gets its ticket number in our acknowledgement. Quote it whenever you follow up, and we will tell you where your grievance stands.
If you are not satisfied with our resolution, you can approach the consumer commission for your area under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019, and, for a complaint about your personal data, seek remedies under section 43A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the 2011 rules named above, which are the data-protection law in force in India today. Once the complaint provisions of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 are in force (currently scheduled for 13 May 2027), you will also be able to take a data-protection complaint to the Data Protection Board of India.
Reporting abuse, or unlawful or infringing content
Reports of unlawful content, copyright infringement, or abuse of the service go to the Grievance Officer above and are handled on the same 24-hour acknowledgement and 15-day resolution clock. Tell us what you are reporting and how it reaches you; if you are reporting infringement, include enough detail to identify the work and confirm you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them. We may suspend or close an account that is repeatedly the subject of upheld reports.
You should know what we are technically able to do about such a report, because it is unusual. Vault For Us has no public content surface: nothing a family stores is published, indexed, or shareable with strangers. Documents and saved passwords are end-to-end encrypted, so we hold no key that can read them — not for a report, not for a court order, not for ourselves. What we can act on is account-level: we can suspend or close an account, and we can act on the limited account details described in the Privacy Policy. We cannot review, remove, or hand over the contents of an encrypted item, because we cannot read it.
Law-enforcement and legal requests
Requests from law enforcement or under a valid legal order should be sent through the Grievance Officer above, on official letterhead, identifying the legal basis and the specific account. We respond to valid, properly scoped requests, and we will tell the affected family unless we are legally prohibited from doing so. The same limit applies: we can produce the account metadata we actually hold, and we cannot produce a readable copy of end-to-end encrypted content, because no key we hold will unlock it.
